COVENTRY, UK – E.ON Exploration & Production says the Tolmount gas discovery in the UK southern North Sea could be one of the region’s largest.
A recently completed appraisal well and 855-m (2,805-ft) side track suggest much higher volumes than originally estimated.
Tolmount is 50 km (31 mi) from the Yorkshire coast in eastern England in block 42/28d. The location is close to existing gas infrastructure. E.ON E&P operates the relatively nearby Johnston and Babbage gas fields.
“The well results will now be incorporated into development studies, with the aim of an optimized development in a short timeframe,” said CEO Frank Sivertsen.
E.ON operates with a 50% interest, in partnership with Dana Petroleum.
