PERTH, Australia – Carnarvon Petroleum expects the jackup Noble Tom Prosser to spud the Outtrim East-1 well next month offshore Western Australia.
Managing director and CEO Adrian Cook said the well would test the extent of the Outtrim-1 oil discovery and upside potential in new oil-charged sands to the north and east of Outtrim-l.
More specifically, it will test for the presence of hydrocarbons in the lower Cretaceous Barrow Group sandstones Pyrenees Formation, similar to the Outtrim-1 sequence, with the following objectives:
The well is around 970 m (3,182 ft) east of Outtrim-1 in 95 m (311 ft) of water with a target interval around 1,400 m (4,593 ft) below the seabed.
Outtrim East-1, operated byQuadrant Energy, is expected to take 25 days to drill on a trouble-free basis.
