NPD sanctions two more offshore Norway wildcats

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has authorized two new exploratory wells in the North Sea.

OSLO, Norway – The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has authorized two new exploratory wells in the North Sea.

Tullow Oil Norge has permission to use the semisubmersibleBorgland Dolphin to drill well 16/5-6 in production license 776 in the central Norwegian North Sea, 30 km (18.6 mi) south of the Johan Sverdrup field.

This will be the first well on the concession, awarded last year under Norway’s APA 2014 round.

Total E&P Norge will use the jackupMærsk Intrepid for well 30/4-3 S in block 30/4, on acreage awarded in 1975.

The location is relatively close to Total’s currentMartin Linge development.
