NEW YORK – ExxonMobil has spudded the Skipjack exploration well offshore Guyana, 25 mi (40 km) northwest of the deepwater Liza discovery, according to partner Hess.
The recentLiza #2 appraisal well on the Stabroek block reached a TD of 17,963 ft (5,475 m), on the way encountering more than 190 ft (58 m) of oil-bearing sandstone reservoirs.
ExxonMobil estimated the recoverable resource for Liza in the 800 MMboe to 1.4 Bboe range.
Elsewhere, Hess anticipates first gas from the full field development of its offshoreNorth Malay Basin project in 2017.
Three wellhead platforms were installed during 1Q and the Phase 1 development drilling campaign remains on schedule, with eight out of 11 planned wells now drilled.
In the Norwegian North Sea, Hess’ net production from theBP-operated Valhall field has fallen by almost 50% to 19,000 boe/d, compared with a year ago, due to a planned maintenance shutdown.
