SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy— Saipem has secured two offshore drilling contracts for unnamed clients in the Middle East and the Mediterranean Sea. The combined value is about $550 million.
In the Middle East, the existing contract for the Perro Negro 7 jackup has been extended by 10 years—a record duration for the area, Saipem claimed. The rig can operate in up to 375 ft water depth.
The new assignment for the Scarabeo 9 semisub in the Mediterranean Sea runs for about six months with an extension option. This is a sixth-generation semi rig equipped with a dual ram rig and capable of operating in water depths of up to 12,000 ft.
