Equinor has discovered gas in the Norwegian Sea via a well drilled 25 km south of the Kristin complex.

OSLO, Norway— Equinor has discovered gas in the Norwegian Sea via a well drilled 25 km south of the Kristin complex.
The semisub Deepsea Stavanger is drilling well 6406/5-2 S in 304 m of water in production license 255 B.
According to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate, the well encountered a gas/condensate column in the Garn Formation estimated to contain 0.2 MMcmoe to 1.1 MMcmoe recoverable.
The licensees will assess commerciality alongside other nearby discoveries/prospects.
Deepsea Stavanger, having P&A’d the well, is drilling a pilot hole for Equinor in PL 1058.
