STAVANGER, Norway — The Deepsea Yantai semisubmersible has spud the Calypso exploration well in the Norwegian Sea for operator Neptune Energy.
Odfjell Drilling is managing operations on well 6407/8-8 S in license PL938, 14 km northwest of the Draugen Field and 22 km north-east of the Njord A platform. A success could lead to a tieback development to either complex.
The reservoir target is the middle and lower Jurassic formations at an anticipated depth of about 2,960 m. The program comprises a main well with logging and coring in the event of a discovery, followed potentially by a side-track that may be drilled dependent on the outcome of the first bore.
Partners are Neptune Energy, OKEA, Pandion Energy and Vår Energi.
