OSLO, NorwayVår Energi has secured approval from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill four wells in the Norwegian North Sea.

Saipem’s semisubmersible Scarabeo 8 will drill all four wells, on license 027, after completing a water injection well program for the same operator in license 229.

Wells 25/8-20 S and 25/8-20 B are wildcats and 25/8-20 A and 25/8-20 C appraisal wells in an area north of the Balder field.

Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has approved Aker BP’s request to use the mobile drilling facilities Island Constructor and Island Wellserver for light well intervention on the Alvheim, Skarv, and Ærfugl fields.

In addition, the PSA has authorized the company to change emergency response and rescue measures on the Ula field in the southern North Sea.

Currently the Stril Mariner operates as an emergency response and rescue vessel for Ula and Aker BP’s nearby Tambar field, performing emergency response and operational tasks.

But the company is streamlining vessel logistics and wishes to remove the vessel from Ula. It has committed to compensatory measures to ensure that emergency response is maintained and that operational tasks are covered by other solutions.
