BANGKOK, Thailand – PTTEP HKO has made a gas discovery with the Dokong-1 exploration well in block SK417 offshore Sarawak, Malaysia.
The well was drilled to a total depth of 3,810 m (12,500 ft) and encountered more than 80 m (262 ft) of gas column.
The second exploration well will be drilled in the middle of the year, PTTEP said.
Block SK417 is in shallow water about 90 km (56 mi) off the coast of Sarawak.
PTTEP HKO is the operator with 80% participating interest, and Petronas Carigali Sdn. Bhd. holds 20%.
