MELBOURNE, Australia – bp and its partners have decided to P&A the Ironbark-1 exploration well in the Carnarvon basin offshore Western Australia.

The well in the WA-359-P permit reached a TD of 5,618 m (18,432 ft), with no significant hydrocarbon shows in any of the target sands, according to partner Cue Energy.

Analysis of the well data and results will follow to determine the implications for the Deep Mungaroo play. Pre-drill, Ironbark was thought to be a prospective giant gas resource.

Demobilization of the semisubmersible Ocean Apex should take place over the coming week.
