CAIRO, Egypt – bp has produced first gas from the Qattameya field in the North Damietta concession offshore northern Egypt. The Pharaonic Petroleum Co. joint venture expects to deliver up to 50 MMcf/d via the single-well subsea tieback to existing infrastructure.
Qattameya, discovered in 2017, is 45 km (28 mi) west of the Ha’py platform in 108 m (354 ft) of water. It is tied back to the Ha’py and Tuart field facilities via a new 50-km (31-mi) pipeline and connected to their existing subsea utilities through a 50-km umbilical.
bp has 100% equity in the North Damietta offshore concession in the East Nile Delta. All gas produced is directed to Egypt’s national grid.
