OSLO, Norway – Neptune Energy has permission from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill the seventh well on license 5086 in the Norwegian Sea.
The semisubmersible West Phoenix will drill wildcat well 6406/12-G-1 H after completing an observation well for Neptune on the same license. The location is 36 km (22.3 mi) southwest of the Njord field.
Other partners in the license – awarded in February 2011 – are Vår Energi, Suncor Energy, and DNO Norge.
