OSLO, Norway – ConocoPhillips has permission from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill an exploratory well in the Norwegian Sea, 27 km (16.8 mi) southwest of the Aker BP-operated Skarv field.
The semisubmersible Leiv Eiriksson will drill well 6507/4-1, the first on license 1009, after completing current operations on another wildcat well (16/1-33 S) for Spirit Energy in PL 780.
ConocoPhillips’ sole partner on the license, which covers parts of blocks 6507/4 and 6506/6, is PGNiG Upstream Norway.
