NOPSEMA approves environment plan for Ironbark well offshore Australia

The National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environment Management Authority has approved the environment plan for the Ironbark-1 exploration well in the Carnarvon basin offshore Western Australia.
MELBOURNE, Australia – The National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environment Management Authority (NOPSEMA) has approved the environment plan for the Ironbark-1 exploration well in the Carnarvon basin offshore Western Australia.
Drilling, in exploration permit WA-359-P, is due to start in October, with final timing dependent on the progress of the current program in the same area by the contracted semisubmersible Ocean Apex.
WA-359-P is around 50 km (31 mi) from the North West Shelf LNG infrastructure. BP is operator: according to partner Cue Energy, the well, designed to test for gas in the giant Ironbark prospect, will have a planned depth of around 5,500 m (18,044 ft).
Other partners are Beach Energy and New Zealand Oil & Gas.
