Two oil companies have received the go-ahead for exploration drilling in the Norwegian Sea from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority.

OSLO, Norway – Two oil companies have received the go-ahead for exploration drilling in the Norwegian Sea from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority.
The semisubmersible Leiv Eiriksson will drill well 6507/4-1 for ConocoPhillips on the Warka prospect in production license 1009.
Water depth is 400 m (1,312 ft). Drilling is expected to take 87 days to complete.
Wellesley Petroleum’s Schweinsteiger prospect is in 211 m (692 ft) of water in PL 829. The semisub Borgland Dolphin will drill the well. Drilling is expected to take 37 days to complete.
