PERTH, Australia – Mubadala Petroleum and Tap Oil have agreed to drill an additional development well this year in the Manora oil field in the Gulf of Thailand.
This will be in the productive 490-60 sands of the field’s eastern fault block. The partners took their decision based on positive initial results from the first three wells of the 2020 campaign.
The jackup Valaris 115 will drill the MNA-28 well from a new platform slot. According to Tap Oil, reservoir simulation suggests the well will accelerate production and produce otherwise undrained oil between the MNA18 and MNA- 20 wells.
It will be deviated to a maximum measured depth of 2,102.5 m (6,898 ft) and completed in the 490-60 reservoir, at an estimated cost of $3 million, with an initial production rate of around 1,600 b/d.
