HOUSTON – Apache Corp. and partner Total have started drilling Kwaskwasi-1, their third exploration well on block 58 offshore Suriname, 10 km (6 mi) northwest of the earlier Sapakara West-1 discovery.

Next up will be the Keskesi East-1 well, 10 km southeast of Sapakara.

The company drilled and completed four wells on its UK central North Sea fields during 1Q.

Production rose 9% from 4Q 2019 levels to 69,000 boe/d, helped by the high-volume Garten-2 well coming onstream in late January.

In response to COVID-19, the company has introduced temperature screenings throughout its operations; expanded its assessment of all contractor companies and vendors coming onsite to locations; and instituted increased cleaning measures in the field and in office locations.

It has also developed a phased re-entry plan for the eventual reopening of its closed offices and will follow guidance of local governments before implementing these.
