Exxon Mobil has awarded Technip Energies and JGC Corp. a FEED contract for the Rovuma LNG project in Mozambique.
The new LNG plant in the Afungi peninsula, northeast Mozambique, will comprise 12 fully modularized LNG trains, each producing 1.5 MMt/year. They will receive gas transported from deepwater fields in Area 4 in the offshore Rovuma basin.
The complex will feature electric-driven LNG trains instead of gas turbines, the aim being to limit emissions compared to conventional LNG projects. Some of the prefabricated and standardized modules will be assembled at the project site.
Exxon Mobil’s partners in the Mozambique Rovuma Venture are Eni and CNPC.
