BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Rowan Drilling Co. expects to send the second of four jackup drilling rigs to come from Keppel AmFELS to BP Trinidad and Tobago. The recently christened Rowan EXL-II has a three-year contract.

An enhancement of the LeTourneau Super 116E design with leg lengths of 511 ft. (156 m) and a capable hook load of 2 million lbs., the ABS-classed rig employs the latest technology to drill high-pressure/high-temperature and extended-reach wells in jackup markets throughout the world. The design is capable of operating in 350 ft. (107 m) of water or more and drilling to a depth of up to 35,000 ft. (10,668 m).

Construction is continuing on the two remaining rigs to be built under the contract.
