Offshore staff
MONACO -- Talisman Energy’s Yme field platform is in transit from the construction yard in Abu Dhabi to the Norwegian North Sea, according to contractor SBM Offshore. On arrival in Norway, the MOPU’s jackup legs will be fitted at an inshore location, followed by installation of the platform offshore.
Construction and commissioning of two new semisubmersible rigs also are progressing in Abu Dhabi, although there have been some delays. SBM expects the first two rigs to be completed later this year, and the third in 2011.
As for EnCana’s Deep Panuke platform, this remains in the assembly stage at the yard’s dry dock. The completed unit should be loaded out towards end-December.
At other yards involving SBM projects, construction is on track of Woodside Petroleum’s Okha FPSO at Keppel shipyard in Singapore, with completion due at year-end.
A yard in Kuala Lumpur is progressing the FPSO for Noble Energy’s Asseng development off Equatorial Guinea. And the FPSO Cidade de Paraty recently sailed into Singapore for refurbishment – this vessel will work on Petrobras’ Tupi Nordeste development in the Santos basin pre-salt area.
SBM says the FPSO Espadarte should be disconnected next year from its current location offshore Brazil, and will then be towed to Singapore for a conversion and upgrade program, before returning to Brazilian waters to produce oil from the Baleia Azul field in 2012.
Finally, the topsides for Petrobras’ P-57 FPSO have been safely lifted into place at the BrasFELS yard. Topsides integration and commissioning continues on schedule.
