ADNOC and AIQ have completed a proof-of-concept trial of ENERGYai, an artificial intelligence (AI) service for the energy sector.

This combines a 70-billion-parameter large language model (LLM) with ADNOC’s proprietary data, and it is designed to optimize the company’s operations.

The 90-day trial demonstrated that the services’ AI "agents" can improve the speed and accuracy of upstream exploration, the company said, through providing rapid, precise and detailed seismic survey analysis, with insights to support production at existing wells.

ENERGYai was able to deliver these insights in intuitive natural language, allowing straightforward action with engineers, ADNOC added.

The results included a 70% accuracy improvement in certain aspects of seismic interpretation and benefits in reservoir monitoring and anomaly detection.

The service improved the reliability and usability of operational data inputs through detecting errors, standardizing formats and refining datasets, according to the company.

ADNOC expects work on the service’s first scalable version to be completed by mid-year. This version will feature five fully operational AI agents covering subsurface tasks and will be deployed across various upstream assets, potentially scaled up to thousands of additional wells.
