Aker Solution to supply offshore Brazil sulphate removal units

Petrobras has awarded Aker Solutions a $41-million contract to supply sulphate removal units and associated equipment for the P-58 and P-62 FPSOs offshore Brazil.

OSLO -- Petrobras has awarded Aker Solutions a $41-million contract to supply sulphate removal units and associated equipment for theP-58 and P-62 FPSOs offshore Brazil.

The units deliver treated and de-sulphated seawater for injection into the hydrocarbon reservoir to maintain pressure and control scaling and souring effects.

Aker Solutions´ Rio de Janeiro team will execute the contract. The contract covers detailed engineering, procurement, fabrication of major equipment, commissioning, and start-up.

The FPSO P-58 is expected to produce 180,000 b/d of oil and will operate in the North part of Parque das Baleias field. P-62 has equal capacity and will operate in module 4 of the Roncador field. First oil is scheduled for 2014.
