KONGSBERG, Norway -- Petrobras America has awarded Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies Inc. (KOGT) a contract to provide a digital oilfield tool (DOFT) for the Cascade-Chinook development in the Gulf of Mexico.
The DOFT system from Kongsberg will provide real-time support and monitoring for field operations. Offline, it will facilitate production planning and training in subsea operations. The system will be installed both offshore on the Cascade-Chinook production facility and onshore at Port Fourchon, Louisiana, and the PAI Corporate office in Houston, Texas.
The Cascade-Chinook FPSO will be moored in Walker Ridge, 300 km (180 mi) south of New Orleans. It is the farthest and deepest (2,500 m [8,200 ft] water depth) development in the Gulf of Mexico, in addition to being the deepest FPSO operation in the world, the company says.
The project will be implemented by the Kongsberg's office in Houston.
