HOUSTON – The Baker Hughes AutoTrak Curve rotary steerable system has reached a milestone of drilling 10 million ft (3 million m) in unconventional shale plays.
Baker Hughes says that the AutoTrak Curve system provides precise directional control that enables operators to stay on plan or to change targets on the fly for optimum wellbore placement, even in thin reservoirs. This allows operators to safely and efficiently kick off from vertical and drill a high buildup rate curve and the lateral in fewer runs – thus, saving time and money.
