OTC 2023: Spotlight on New Technology Award winners selected

This year 15 technologies, seven of them from small businesses, were named a winner.

HOUSTON  The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) has selected the winners of its 2023 Spotlight on New Technology Award.

This recognition is given exclusively to OTC exhibitors that are "reshaping the offshore energy sector through innovation and developing technologies," OTC said. This year 15 technologies, seven of them from small businesses, were named a winner.

The award recipients were selected based on the following criteria: product uniqueness, the degree of ingenuity, demonstrated success, commercial viability and the ability to make a significant impact across the offshore industry.

2023 Spotlight winners

Baker Hughes was recognized for its REACH wireline-retrievable safety valve.
  • Hägglunds, a brand of Bosch Rexroth, was selected for its Atom gearless direct drive.
  • Framo AS was highlighted for its Framo Submerged Turbine.
  • OSIRenewables, an Oil States enterprise, was recognized for its FTLP floating wind platform.
  • Oil States was named a winner for its Active Seat Gate Valve.
  • Saipem was selected for its FlatFish.
  • SLB and Equinor were also named winners for their Epilogue dual-string barrier evaluation.
  • Teledyne Marine was recognized for its 3 Channel Vertical Optical Feedthrough System.
  • To qualify for the small business award, companies are required to meet the following criteria: be independently owned and operated, or registered as a nonprofit organization, and have no more than 300 employees in the 12 months prior to the application deadline.

    2023 Spotlight small business winners

    CARBO was honored for its CARBOTRACE.
  • GOWell was recognized for its Deformation and Eccentricity Tool (DEC).
  • Oliden Technology was selected for its TerraFusion Azimuthal Gamma Ray, Annular Pressure and Ultrasonic Imaging LWD Tool.
  • Opla Energy was named a winner for its OplaSmart Software as well as its PMD (pressure management device).
  • Valvetight EMT was recognized for its DBB-SAVER for LNG.
  • Well Resolutions Technology was honored for its GeoTracker at-bit propagation resistivity.
  • “Revolutionizing the field is no easy task. It requires collaboration, intense consistency and the brightest minds in the industry to drive innovation. This year’s recipients exemplify these efforts, and we are proud to acknowledge them,” said Paul Jones, chairperson, OTC board of directors.

    The 2023 Spotlight on New Technology Award recipients will be honored May 1 at this year’s OTC at NRG Center in Houston.
