Smulders acquiring platform engineering group HSM, subject to approvals
Eiffage Métal’s Belgian subsidiary Smulders has entered into an agreement to acquire fabrication group HSM Offshore Energy.
Based in Schiedam, the Netherlands, HSM provides engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPOCIC) services, such as electrical and mechanical systems for offshore energy projects as well as platform topsides for offshore wind and oil and gas developments. Its services range from design and engineering to offshore hook-up and commissioning. The company employs 140 staff, with annual revenues close to EUR300 million ($324 million).
Smulders performs engineering and construction of transition pieces, jackets and HVAC substation structures for the offshore wind sector.
The two companies are already collaborating on large-scale offshore wind projects. Recent programs have involved integration of auxiliary and high-voltage equipment for developments offshore Germany and Belgium.
The transaction remains subject to approvals from competition authorities in Europe.
