Preserving the Offshore legacy among new vibes

Feb. 18, 2025
Offshore's Editor-in-Chief David Paganie passes the torch.

By Ariana Hurtado, Editor-in-Chief

After 20 years with Offshore, former Editor-in-Chief David Paganie has transitioned into a new role within Endeavor Business Media as energy conference director of Offshore’s events and some of the company’s other energy-related conferences, effective Jan. 1. He will still be leading the event content and chairing the conference advisory boards, so I’m positive his imprint on this brand is far from over. He left large shoes to fill, and I am honored to have been chosen to oversee a brand that has been around for 70 years.

Offshore had tremendous growth in 2024, and I look forward to maintaining this momentum. Our website content garnered 3 million page views last year, with a 60% engagement rate and 3-minute average session duration. And Offshore’s LinkedIn page increased its followers eightfold in three years, from year-end 2021 to year-end 2024.

As for our content, the most popular topic of 2024 was drilling, with strong interests also in the regions offshore Brazil (see the recent Deepwater Brazil Special Report), the North Sea and Gulf of Mexico.

Managing Editor Bruce Beaubouef and Offshore’s London-based editor, Jeremy Beckman, remain the backbone of this magazine. Please drop them a line to discuss trending topics or pitch a story idea.

In the January/February issue, the cover story features an examination of today’s floating platform design and construction market by David Boggs, managing director of Energy Maritime Energy Associates Pte Ltd., with projections for the rest of the year.

Relatedly, Offshore hosted a live event on Feb. 4 in which Boggs offered his thoughts on the state of the offshore floating platform construction market. Offshore readers and audience members can view this webinar on demand to get the latest on FPUs being designed and built, and learn about new orders.

In addition, Bruce highlights the new discoveries that have taken place in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico over the past year, with our traditional accompanying survey. Furthermore, Jeremy secured an interview with Hibiscus Petroleum’s Managing Director Dr. Kenneth Pereira about the rationale for the company's latest gas venture.

Avid readers might notice a few subtle changes to the digital magazine. The editorial team has pared down the lineup with the elimination of the columns and business briefs. Commentary and thought leadership pieces, as well as people/company news, will still be available on the website. Speaking of which, this year we are striving to bring our audience even more in-depth stories, hard-hitting news and executive insights via the website. Check out our daily coverage at offshore-mag.com and subscribe to the Offshore Daily e-newsletter.

As always, we are extremely grateful for our subscribers and advertisers. Thank you for all your support!
