OSLO -- The Norwegian authorities have awarded Statoil shares in eight exploration licenses on the Norwegian continental shelf -- six in the North Sea and two in the Norwegian Sea. The company is operator for six of the licenses.

“The licenses we have now been awarded will help maximize the utilization of our existing near-field infrastructure,” says Tove Stuhr Sjøblom, Statoil’s senior VP of exploration on the Norwegian continental shelf. “The licenses can provide additional volumes on fields already in production and thereby extend the lifetime of installations.”
