MOSCOW, Russia — Lukoil opened a new center for core and reservoir fluids research in early December in Perm, Russia.
The new facility, run by Lukoil-Engineering LLC, will perform R&D to support exploration, development and oil recovery enhancement at fields in the Caspian Sea and Baltic Sea, and others in the onshore Volga-Ural and Timan-Pechora oil and gas provinces.
Technicians at the center bring experience in laboratory analysis of complex reservoir robbing core, oil source rocks, poorly cemented core, decarbonization and oil recovery enhancement methods.
The facility includes a core repository that can store more than 300,000 km of core samples. Staff will conduct joint research and organize workshops with the Perm National Research Polytechnic University and the local Research and Education Center for Sustainable Management of Resources.
