STAVANGER, Norway — Longboat Energy has completed its acquisition of Topaz Number One Ltd., raising its operated interest in the Block 2A PSC offshore Sarawak to 52.5%.

The block contains the Kertang prospect, a large anticlinal structure with a closure of more than 100 sq km at multiple levels with potential for multiple Tcf of gas in stacked reservoirs.

There are seismic indicators of gas in the area and over the crest of the prospect. Longboat and partners Petronas Carigali and Petroleum Sarawak Exploration & Production may bring in an additional partner to co-fund drilling.

Block 2A is northwest of the prolific Central Luconia hydrocarbon province, which produces gas as feedstock for the Bintulu LNG plant on the coast of Sarawak.
