ABERDEEN, UK – Maritime Developments Ltd. (MDL) replaced multiple hoists on a crane on a North Sea platform, changing out the main, boom and auxiliary hoist winches.
MDL technicians replaced the winches using a temporary crane, with replacement of the wire rope on the boom hoist winch conducted under tension using a spooler placed on the platform’s helideck.
In addition, the company supplied tooling, rigging and load testing equipment following the replacements, with the MDL AME (Asset Maintenance & Engineering) division responsible for managing the overall campaign.
Previously, the team had replaced the same crane’s boom hoist winch in summer 2020.
