ABERDEEN, UK – Awilco Drilling has signed a contract with Keppel FELS in Singapore for the construction of a second CS60 ECO MW semisubmersible drilling rig.
As with the first rig, it will be designed for harsh environment operations and will be equipped and certified for drilling offshore Norway, including in the Barents Sea, in water depths up to 5,000 ft (1,524 m).
Awilco estimates the cost of the construction at around $425 million, with delivery planned in late 1Q 2022. The company also has options with Keppel FELS for up to two further newbuilds of similar design.
