MONACO – SBM Offshore and its joint venture partner are preparing to mothball the Brasa construction yard in Brazil for a further two years.

Although Brazil remains an important market for the company, it remains concerned by the lead times for opportunities to mature in terms of construction activities and continued over the development oflocal content regulations.

Elsewhere, construction in China of the company’sFPSOLiza Destiny for the Liza development offshore Guyana is progressing in accordance with the project schedule.

The second and final drydock session has been completed and the vessel is now ready to receive its topsides modules.

Fabrication of the turret mooring system for Equinor’s Johan Castberg FPSO, which will operate in the Barents Sea, is on schedule for the planned delivery in early 2020.

ABS has granted an Approval in Principle (AIP) to SBM Offshore for its proprietary wind floater design.

This is a TLP concept designed for a wet tow with the wind turbine installed, followed by a mooring hook-up phase.

The AIP demonstrates the successful design of the floater and compliance with ABS’ design standards.
