CALGARY, CanadaHusky Energy has issued updates on its E&P programs offshore Southeast Asia and eastern Canada.

The partners (Husky 75%, CNOOC 25%) have signed contracts for long-lead items forLiuhua 29-1, the third deepwater field development at the Liwan gas project in the South China Sea.

Fabrication and construction of equipment is under way.

Three additional wells are set to be drilled from the start of 4Q, adding to the four drilled previously.

All three new wells will be tied into the existing Liwan infrastructure, with first gas expected around end-2020.

Production will be transported through the subsea infrastructure and processed at the onshore Gaolan gas plant, for onward delivery to buyers in the Pearl River Mouth basin area.

Husky is also progressing development planning of oil discovered via recent exploration drillings on block 15/33 in the South China Sea, 160 km (99.4 mi) southeast of Hong Kong.

The first well intersected four oil-bearing zones with a combined net pay thickness of about 70 m (229 ft): two subsequent drillstem tests produced a combined rate of more than 9,000 b/d, each test flowing for over 22 hours.

A rig is currently on location at the nearby block 16/25, preparing to spud two exploration wells.

Elsewhere, two platforms and associated topsides have been installed at the MDA-MBH fields in the Madura Strait offshore Indonesia. A rig has been contracted to drill seven production wells starting later this year.

Offshore Newfoundland, Husky is assessing the successful recent exploration well White Rose A-24 well, drilled 10 km (6.2 mi) north of theSeaRose FPSO.

This encountered a net pay thickness of over 85 m (279 ft) of oil-bearing sandstone. Husky also plans additional delineation of the north White Rose area.

At the producing White Rose field and its satellite extensions, infill wells and workovers are helping to counter reservoir declines until the start-up of the 75,000-b/dWest White Rose development in 2022.

However, a well on the North Amethyst experienced a high water cut and is currently shut-in pending further intervention activities.

Finally, a four-week turnaround is scheduled to start early next month at theTerra Nova FPSO.
