ABERDEEN, UK – Shell UK has notified Awilco Drilling that it plans to exercise a one-well option under a recently awarded North Sea P&A campaign involving the semisubmersible WilPhoenix.
The contract is therefore extended to 19 firm wells with an estimated duration of 380 days, with options remaining for seven further wells.
The WilPhoenix is one of two Awilco-owned Enhanced Pacesetter semisubmersibles, both equipped for drilling in water depths up to 1,200 ft (366 m).
The company also has on order a newbuild Moss CS60 ECO MW design semi for drilling in harsh environments, with options for three more rigs of the same design.
