PSA probes dropped riser at Jotun B in the North Sea

The Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority is investigating a lifting incident onboard the Jotun B platform in the Norwegian North Sea last Saturday.

OSLO, Norway – The Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) is investigating a lifting incident onboard the Jotun B platform in the Norwegian North Sea last Saturday.
During a lifting operation a 15-metric ton riser came loose from the lifting arrangement, falling 8 m (26 ft). Fortunately, no one was injured.
A PSA team will start their inquest onboard Jotun B this week, with the aims of clarifying the course of events and identifying the direct and underlying causes in order to contribute to learning and experience transfer.
