OSLO – The Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has expanded the pre-defined areas available under Norway’s APA 2018 round.
Newly on offer are 47 blocks in the western Norwegian Sea and 56 blocks in the Barents Sea, east of the existing APA area.
Deadline for applications is September 4. The Ministry aims to award new production licenses early next year.
Petroleum and Energy Minister Terje Søviknes said: “Access to prospective exploration acreage is crucial in order to make new petroleum discoveries.”
Søviknes continued: “New discoveries on the Norwegian continental shelf ensure value creation, employment and Government revenues. An important pillar of the Government's policy is to facilitate oil companies in a continued safe and effective exploration.”
