Fairfield initiates North Sea Dunlin area subsea decommissioning

ABERDEEN, UK – Fairfield Energy has contracted Bibby Offshore and various other companies to decommission the subsea infrastructure at the Greater Dunlin Area in the UK northern North Sea.
The consortium includes thePort of Cromarty Firth in northeast Scotland, and this will be the port’s first decommissioning project.
The workscope relates to seabed facilities at the Osprey and Merlin subsea fields and other infrastructure tied back to the Dunlin Alpha platform, as defined in the decommissioning programs approved by the Offshore Regulator for Environment and Decommissioning in December.
Fairfield has awarded the three-year contract under an engineering, preparation, removal, and disposal basis, with an initial two-year execution window for offshore activities. Offshore mobilization should begin by April.
All materials recovered and transported ashore at thePort of Cromarty Firth will be broken down into transferable loads before being delivered to suitable disposal and recycling locations. These activities will be completed within 12 months of the last offshore shipment arriving in port.
