OSLO, Norway – Aker BP has approval from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) to conduct modifications associated with a gas lift program at the Tambar field in the North Sea.
This is part of a new development project at the field that involves drilling two new wells, implementing gas lift for existing and new wells, an operating life extension, and various minor facility modifications.
For the lift gas Aker BP will bring in supplies through an existing pipeline between the Ula and Gyda platforms.
The consent covers gas lift equipment for the wells and installation of a new gas lift module and associated control functions.
These measures are needed because reservoir pressure at Tambar is no longer sufficient to maintain satisfactory production.
PSA also approved use of the jackupMaersk Interceptor to drill and complete wells 1/3-K-4 and 1/3-K-2 in a water depth of 67 m (220 ft).
In the far south of the Norwegian North Sea, ConocoPhillips has PSA’s permission to use the jackupWest Elara for drilling and completion of water injection wells at Ekofisk 2/4 VC.
Drilling should begin during the current quarter and continue for a year.
