HOUSTON – Anadarko Petroleum Corp.’s ultra-deepwaterPaon-2A appraisal well offshore Côte d’Ivoire has determined the downdip extent of the oil accumulation, which was discovered in 2012.
The semisubmersibleWest Leo drilled the well in the CI-103 block in 2,366 m (7,762 ft) of water. It encountered the water below the light oil accumulation discovered at the Paon-1X well.
Pressure logging has located the probable oil/water contact.
Paon-2A was drilled 15 km (9.3 mi) southwest and 370 m (1,214 ft) downdip of the discovery well. It intersected Upper Cretaceous reservoir sandstones that were water bearing at this location.
Pressure data indicate that the oil accumulation between this well andPaon-1X has a hydrocarbon column of at least 230 m (754 ft).
Following completion of logging operations the well will be P&A’d.
