Energean books vessel for Karish module lift offshore Israel

Energean has contracted a heavy-lift vessel to transport and lift the second oil train onto the FPSO Energean Power at the Karish gas-condensate field offshore Israel.

The lift, due to take place in the next few months, will be followed by a period of commissioning activities. Once completed, liquids production on the platform should rise by 20,000-25,000 bbl/d during the second half of 2025.

In July Energean took FID on Katlan, its second major development project offshore Israel after confirmation of the associated 30-year lease from the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.

The $1.2 billion project will involve reentry and completion of the Athena and Zeus wells; and installation of a four-well-slot subsea structure tieback to a ~30-km production line that can also be used for future development phases.

TechnipFMC is responsible for the program. In addition, the Energean Power, as host to the development, will undergo an upgrade of the topsides related to MEG treatment, injection and storage. First gas should follow in first-half 2027.

At the Anchois gas field offshore western Morocco, now operated by Energean, the drillship Stena Forth has been drilling the Anchois-3 appraisal well.

Analysis to date of volumes found in the well are lower than pre-drill estimates. Partner Chariot Energy added that the chief objective of the initial pilot hole had been to assess the upside exploration potential of reservoirs in the Anchois Footwall prospect, but these appear to be water bearing.

This hole was plugged and abandoned (P&A) prior to sidetracking and drilling the main hole. Preliminary interpretation indicates gas bearing reservoirs are present in the B sands; drilling operations continue to evaluate deeper appraisal and exploration objectives.

In the UK central North Sea, Energean is a partner in the Scott field where a newly drilled infill well is due to go online later this year, with an injector well set to be drilled in 2025.

Recently the company commissioned Petrodec UK to decommission the Tors and Wenlock gas fields in the southern UK North Sea. The scope covers P&A of eight platform wells and potentially one exploration and appraisal well; removal of three platforms; and cleaning of inter-field pipelines.
