Petrobras' production during the second quarter averaged 2,699 MMboe/d, 2.4% up on the corresponding quarter in 2023.
Main factors were ramp-up activities on the FPSOs Almirante Barroso, P-71, Anna Nery, Anita Garibaldi and Sepetiba (on the Mero Field), and the startup of 12 new wells from eight complementary projects in the Campos Basin and four in the Santos Basin.
Startup of the Sepetiba’s second producing well in late June raised the platform's operated oil production to 90,000 bbl/d.
Last month the newbuild FPSO Marechal Duque de Caxias was also anchored in the Mero Field. This third production system should start operations later in the year, with a capacity to produce up to 180,000 bbl/d of oil and 12 MMcm/d of natural gas.
Another new FPSO, Maria Quitéria, left the shipyard in China in May and should arrive in the next few weeks at the Jubarte Field in the presalt Campos Basin, off the coast of Espírito Santo. It is due to start producing in the fourth quarter, which is ahead of schedule.
Onboard decarbonization technologies include combined cycle in power generation and a close flare gas recovery unit. The platform is designed to produce 100,000 bbl/d of oil and 5 MMcm/d of natural gas.
Another development, Integrated Parque das Baleias (part of Petrobras’ Campos Basin Renewal Program) should further increase the company’s production, while also reducing lifting costs and emissions.
