COPENHAGEN, DenmarkØrsted has signed a long-term lease agreement with Cadeler for a newbuild A-Class wind farm installation vessel.

This will provide Ørsted with guaranteed installation vessel capacity from first-quarter 2027 to year-end 2030 for its forthcoming offshore construction projects.

The A-Class vessels are a hybrid design, capable of transporting and installing foundations and wind turbine generators (WTGs). They can transport up to six XXL monopile foundations during each round trip and can be swiftly converted to install/transport WTGs.

According to Ørsted, the vessels can transport and install either seven 15-MW turbine sets per journey or five 20MW+ turbines.

Cadeler recently signed a wind turbine installation contract with another (undisclosed) client using its Wind Scylla vessel, valued at $75 million to $150 million, covering the firm period and extension options.

Installations should start next year, with the program set to last between 300 and 550 days.
