HELSINKI, Finland – Wärtsilä will supply 40 generating sets for 12 new LNG-fuelled platform supply vessels (PSVs) under construction at the Wuchang Shipbuilding Heavy and Liaonan shipyards in China.

The client is China Oilfield Services Co. Ltd. (COSL).

Among the benefits of the Wärtsilä 20DF engine for this application are said to be fuel efficiency, low operating costs, environmental performance, and a low-load operating ability.

“More and more ships are being built for use with LNG fuel, and we see these 12 ships as part of a trend that will continue to grow,” said Liu Hui, manager of COSL Shipping’s shipbuilding project management team.

All the engines will be delivered to the yards at the end of 2019.
