RIO DE JANEIRO – Construction has been completed of the FPSOCidade de São Paulo. The vessel left the Brasfels shipyard in Angra dos Reis, Brazil, and was due to undergo final testing in sheltered waters.
The hull was converted at the COSCO shipyard in China. Module installation, assembly, and integration work started in early 2012, and were performed entirely at Brasfels.
The vessel will be deployed on the Petrobras-operated Sapinhoá field, in the presalt Santos basin region, in a water depth of 2,200 m (7,218 ft). First oil is expected to flow in January when the vessel will be connected to the first well. There will be six producers and five injectors.
This will be the first producing installation on the field, capable of producing 120,000 b/d of oil and 5 MMcm/d of gas. A second FPSO is expected to come onstream on Sapinhoá during the second half of 2014 - theCidade de Ilhabela is currently undergoing conversion.
Petrobras leads the block BM-S-9 concession in partnership with BG E&P Brasil and Repsol Sinopec Brasil.
As operator of the BM-S-11 consortium, Petrobras - via its affiliate Tupi-BV - has signed a letter of intent with Schahin Petróleo e Gás and Modec to charter an FPSO for the Iracema Norte development, also in the presalt Santos basin. Development calls for connection of 16 wells to the FPSO, eight producers and eight injectors, with start-up expected in December 2015.
The facility will be installed 300 km (186 mi) offshore in a water depth of 2,234 m (7,329 ft). It will have capacity to process 150,000 b/d of oil and 8 MMcm/d of natural gas.
It will be operated by the companies responsible for the construction and chartered for a 20-year period. Delivery is due 35 months after signature of the letter of intent. Petrobras’ partners are BG and Petrogal Brasil S.A (10%).
