BREDA, the Netherlands – Statoil has contracted Dockwise to transport two new Cat-J jackups from South Korea to Norway.
These will be the largest and heaviestjackups ever carried on a heavy marine transport vessel, the contractor claims.
Dockwise will deploy the Blue Marlin and its new sister vessel White Marlin for the assignment. Transport is scheduled between 2Q 2016 and 2Q 2017.
Statoil will use the harsh-environment rigs for production drilling on theGullfaks and Oseberg fields in the North Sea. They will be able to operate in water depths of 70-150 m (229-492 ft) and to drill wells down to 10,000 m (32,808 ft).
