PAPENDRECHT, the Netherlands -- Bechtel has contracted Dockwise to transport modules for the Chevron-operated Wheatstone Project offshore Western Australia.
Scope includes logistical management and transportation of over 100 modules from the Wheatstone Project module yards in China and Malaysia to the project site at Ashburton North, 12 km (7.4 mi) west of Onslow in Western Australia.
Dockwise’s parent company Boskalis says the work calls for deployment of six heavy marine transport vessels (HTVs) ranging in size from T-Class to Type IV open stern vessels, and various barges, floating super pallets (FSPs), two new SMIT Giant barges, and Anchor Handling Tugs (AHTs).
The HTVs will provide on-deckstowage for modules and piggy back capacity for barges/FSPs also carrying modules. The SMIT Giant barge - AHT combination will serve as a towage solution.
