SHARJAH, UAENational Drilling Company (NDC) of Abu Dhabi has exercised options with fabricator Lamprell for two jackups, both of which will be built in Hamriyah.

These are in addition to the two rigs that Lamprell is currently building for NDC. As with these units, they will be completely outfitted and equipped, self-elevating LeTourneau Super 116E (Enhanced) Class designs.

The rigs feature triangular hulls with three 310-ft (94-m) truss-type legs. Each leg incorporates an electro-mechanical rack and pinion elevating system, which should allow drilling in water depths of up to 200 ft (61 m), with a rated drilling depth of 30,000 ft (9,144 m).

NDC should take delivery of the two sets of rigs during 1Q and 2Q 2014. The value of this extra order to Lamprell is more than $333 million.
