Golar gives go-ahead for Sergipe FSRU power project

Golar Power has approved taking a final investment decision on the Porto de Sergipe project in Brazil, to be powered by a floating storage and regasification unit.

HAMILTON, Bermuda – Golar Power has approved taking a final investment decision on the Porto de Sergipe project in Brazil, to be powered by a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU).

The sanction allows CELSE to enter into a lump-sum turnkey EPC agreement with General Electric to build, maintain, and operate a 1.516-MW combined cycle power plant, located near Aracaju, the state capital ofSergipe.

It will supplement hydropower during dry seasons and help meet growing demand for electricity in the region.

Golar Power has agreed to charter the newbuildGolar Nanook, due to be delivered in November 2017, for 25 years.
