Seadrill delays ultra-deepwater drillship deliveries

Seadrill has reached an agreement with DSME shipyard in South Korea to defer delivery of the ultra-deepwater drillships West Aquila and West Libra.

HAMILTON, BermudaSeadrill has reached an agreement with DSME shipyard in South Korea to defer delivery of the ultra-deepwater drillships West Aquila and West Libra.

These will now be shipped out respectively in 2Q 2018 and 1Q 2019.

Originally, bothvessels were to be delivered by end-2Q 2016, at which point a total final yard installment for both units of more than $800 million was due to be paid.

Seadrill says the deal improves its near-term liquidity position.
